Danielle Merfeld
Danielle Merfeld was the Vice President and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of GE Renewable Energy, a subsidiary of General Electric that focuses on renewable energy solutions such as wind, solar, and hydro power. As CTO, Merfeld was responsible for driving the development and implementation of GE Renewable Energy's technology strategy, including research and development of new products and solutions.
She joined GE in 2003 as a senior engineer and has held various leadership roles within the company. She has a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame and has published numerous technical papers and patents. Merfeld is also an active member of several industry organizations and serves on the board of directors for the Smart Electric Power Alliance. Something interesting about her is that, the company that she leaders is part of the initiative "S.H.E. Can Steam" that is an initiative launched by several companies, including GE, to promote and support girls and young women who are interested in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) fields. "She Can STEM" aims to help girls and young women overcome obstacles and biases that may discourage them from pursuing STEM careers, and to provide them with resources and support to succeed in these fields. As the CTO of GE Renewable Energy, Merfeld may have been involved in supporting and promoting this initiative as part of her role within the company.
