Guns are prohibited in Mexico.

In Mexico we don’t have an army culture of weapons, how in other countries for example in the American culture in that we can buy a big variety of weapons, In Mexico don’t have the chance to buy many guns only a limit amount of weapons, and the requirement is more that in other countries and the process for buying a gun is more large and expensive.

In México the Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional is responsible to give the authorization for buying or have a gun inside of Mexico According to Article 160 of the Federal Penal Code, all citizens must possess weapons for legal purposes only, which include recreation, defense, or work.

People carrying, importing, storing, and manufacturing guns for attack and organized crime are punishable by three months to three years of imprisonment. They can also be charged with fines equal to a guilty person’s annual income.

Current law allows citizens one handgun and up to nine rifles if they can prove they are members of shooting or hunting clubs. A separate permit that is difficult to obtain is required to carry guns in public.

There are various modalities regarding the possession of firearms in which a citizen can be placed:

For the protection of the private home, the registration of short arms (pistols and revolvers) is authorized, in calibers not exceeding 0.380” or 0.38” Special, respectively, except for calibers 0.38” Super, 0.357” Magnum, 5.7 mm, or others. that the Ministry of National Defense, within its powers, considers as the exclusive use of the Army, Navy, and Air Force.

You may think that the gun laws in Mexico are reasonable and pragmatic, or you may find these restrictions presumptuous.

More people think that is necessary to have a weapon because the insecurity in some cities of the country is increasing that day however people think that if they buy a gun, they can have this gun with them all time but it is false, because the majority people that want a weapon for protection don’t know that if they want to request a license, only can use it inside to their house and they can’t have all time with them, also can’t fire when they want to do, only they can fire in emergencies inside of their house.

Different people had expressed your point of view about the weapons in Mexico for example the store manager, Col. Eduardo Tellez, said he believes gun ownership is a privilege. He sees his job as making sure firearms end up in the hands of “moral and responsible” people only. or Hugo Gallegos Sanchez, 32, a police officer in Mexico City, decided to purchase a handgun at the store for personal use because he was concerned about rising crime.
