Mary Barra


 Mary Barra is the Chairman and CEO of General Motors, a prominent figure in the automotive industry known for her innovative approach to product development and commitment to safety and quality. Born on December 24, 1961, in Royal Oak, Michigan, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Kettering University and a Master of Business Administration from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Her career began at General Motors in 1980 as a co-op student and worked her way up the ranks, holding various leadership positions in manufacturing, engineering, and human resources. In 2011, she was named the Senior Vice President of Global Product Development, where she oversaw the development of the Chevrolet Volt and the Chevy Cruze, among other achievements.



In 2013, Barra was appointed Executive Vice President of Global Product Development, Purchasing, and Supply Chain, responsible for all aspects of product development, including design, engineering, and quality. During her tenure, she focused on improving the company's safety record and oversaw the launch of several new models.

In 2014, she became the first woman to lead a major global automaker when she was named CEO of General Motors. Under her leadership, the company became more efficient and agile, focusing on innovation and customer needs. She led the company through a major ignition switch recall and worked to improve safety across the industry.
